Chelsea have emerged as rumoured suitors for Atletico Madrid centre-back Jose Gimenez.
The 27-year-old has represented Los Rojiblancos on 263 occasions in all competitions, scoring 10 goals and registering nine assists in the process.
The Uruguay international has once again been one of Atletico’s standout performers in an impressive season, racking up 14 appearances in all competitions.
He still has another three years left to run on his contract at Wanda Metropolitano.
According to Italian journalist Rudy Galetti, Gimenez could also be allowed to leave in the mid-season transfer window for the right price.
Galetti claims that the Blues are keeping a close eye on Gimenez’s situation and are ready to ‘take advantage’.
The Uruguayan has enjoyed plenty of success during his time in Madrid, winning two La Liga titles, the Spanish Super Cup, the Europa League and the UEFA Super Cup.
