Maria Sharapova has admitted that she can’t wait to take on 20-time Grand Slam champion Serena Williams in the semi-finals of Wimbledon, on Thursday afternoon.
Sharapova, 28, hasn’t faced the American in the latter stages at SW19 since 2004, and the Russian has insisted that she is expecting an “incredible” moment when they both meet on in front of 15,000 spectators on Centre Court.
The world No. 4 told reporters: “I haven’t played Serena here in 11 years. That will be an incredible moment for me to step out on Centre Court against her again.”
The duo will meet for the 20th time, with the 33-year-old American have won the last 16 encounters.
