With the 2014 Wimbledon season in full swing, the 128th edition of the Championships to be held on June 23 – July 8, 2014, at the All-England Club and promises some great tennis fixtures.
Below, I’ve written the top favourites of Men’s singles in which the reigning champion Andy Murray looks confident to successfully defend his crown in this year’s Wimbledon tournament.
One of the best things about the 2014 Wimbledon championship is that it looks to be wide open, Novak Djokovic is the favourites to win this season.
Novak Djokovic
Despite losing a French Open title against World No. 1 Rafa Nadal earlier this month, the Serbian Novak Djokovic is considered the odds-on favourite for this year’s Wimbledon crown due to his stellar grass-court record, the 2011 champion and a six-time grand slam champion has reached the Wimbledon semifinal in four consecutive years.
Andy Murray
The two-time grand slam champion Andy Murray has reached the Wimbledon finals in the last two years, although he hasn’t achieved anything big in this year. The 27-year-old Scot, whose transition to grass hasn’t been smooth either, but playing at home should bring some hope for Murray.
Rafa Nadal
The two-time Wimbledon winner Rafa Nadal, will also be very much contend for the title, although he lost within the first two rounds in each of the last two years. The Spaniard has got a pretty bad record on grass, he has suffered shock defeats to opponents with the likes of Lukas Rosol, Steve Darcis, and Dustin Brown.
The World No.1 must overturn his recent poor record form on grass in order to claim his third Wimbledon crown this year.
