Tottenham Hotspur are reportedly considering a major summer transfer move for Manchester United forward Jadon Sancho as they aim to revamp their attack under new manager Ange Postecoglou.
Recent reports suggest that Manchester United are open to selling Sancho, and Tottenham are keen on offering him an escape route from Old Trafford if the price is reasonable.
Sancho, who joined Man United from Borussia Dortmund for a staggering £73 million two years ago, has struggled to make a significant impact since his arrival, failing to secure a consistent spot in the starting lineup. While he recorded an impressive tally of 64 assists and 50 goals in 137 games for Dortmund, his numbers at Manchester United stand at just six assists and 12 goals in 79 appearances across all competitions.
With Euro 2024 on the horizon, the 23-year-old may be tempted to seek a fresh start elsewhere. Manchester United are looking to balance their transfer budget, currently standing at £120 million, in accordance with FFP regulations. They have refused to meet Chelsea’s valuation of £65 million for Mason Mount due to financial constraints.
To raise funds for new signings, Manchester United are now considering the sale of certain players, including Donny van de Beek, Fred, and Anthony Elanga. Sancho’s name has also been added to the list, with reports indicating that the club would be open to cutting their losses on him this summer if an offer in the range of £50-60 million is received.
Tottenham Hotspur in need of a new winger following the departures of Lucas Moura and Arnaut Danjuma, could potentially step in to rescue Sancho. It is suggested that they may make a bid starting at £40 million, with add-ons included, for the versatile attacker.
While Sancho has struggled to find his best form at Manchester United, his impressive performances at Dortmund make him an intriguing prospect. His versatility allows him to play on either flank or even as a number 10, which could make him a long-term replacement for Son Heung-min.
Spurs’ interest in Sancho could provide an exciting twist in the summer transfer window as they seek to bolster their squad under the guidance of Ange Postecoglou.
