Arsenal are reportedly ready to make an offer of £31.5m deal for Borussia Dortmund defender Mats Hummels in January, according to reports from the Metro.
The Gunners have been strongly linked with a move for the 25-year-old centre back in the recent weeks, and now the reports claim that talks between both clubs have been reached to be at an “advanced stage”.
The Germany international has been widely regarded as one of the best centre-backs in Bundesliga and international football. He has made more than 200 appearances for his club and played 38 times for his country .
Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has already revealed earlier this month that he will be in the transfer market for yet another star defender, following the departure of Thomas Vermaelen to Barcelona this summer.
The Gunners could face a stiff competition for the services of Hummels’s from Premier League rivals Manchester United, who are also said to be interested in acquiring his services.
