Real Madrid have officially announced the return of Mariano Diaz at the Bernabeu on a five-year deal after spending one season with Lyon.
The 25-year-old has made 14 appearances for Los Blancos in the 2016-2017 campaign, scoring five times in 14 appearances.
Diaz subsequently joined the French outfit in the off-season and proved a hit at Ligue 1, scoring 21 goals in just 48 appearances.
The Dominican striker had been expected to join Sevilla, but club president Pepe Castro suggested that the Champions League holders appeared set to complete the move instead.
Diaz left the Spanish capital for €8m, but the French club have reportedly agreed a deal worth a possible €33m for the striker.
Diaz will be presented to the Madrid’s fans at the Bernabeu on Friday.
