Manchester United have reportedly made contact with the Spanish champions Barcelona over Samuel Umtiti and they are ready to make an offer for the 25-year-old defender.
The Red Devils are looking to bolster their defence in the final week of the summer transfer window and have grown frustrated in their pursuit of Leicester City centre-back Harry Maguire.
The Foxes are believed to be after more than £80m for the England international and United are only willing to pay £70m for his services.
Umtiti, 25, has previously been considered as a cheaper alternative and, according to Le 10 Sport, the Red Devils have stepped up their interest in the France international.
The report claims that Barca are willing to sell the centre-back who has made 97 appearances for the Catalan giants.
