Premier League giants Manchester United and Chelsea have reportedly placed emphasis on signing AC Milan goalkeeper Gianluigi Donnarumma.
The Italy international will see his current contract expire this summer and he is now considering his options.
According to football.london, Donnarumma’s agent Mino Raiola has already held talks with both Man United and Chelsea about a possible free transfer this summer.
The 18-time Serie A champions are believed to have offered the 22-year-old stopper a wage rise from £5m-a-season to £6.5m, however, the shot-stopper is understood to be wanting a deal worth around £8.5m.
The Italian keeper would favour staying in his homeland, but if a deal cannot be agreed with Milan, then both United and the Blues could battle it out for one of the world’s best goalkeepers.
The west Londoners have spent heavily on goalkeepers in recent times, signing Kepa Arrizabalaga from Athletic Bilbao in 2018, before recruiting Edouard Mendy from Rennes last summer.
Manchester United, meanwhile, have been constantly linked with signing a new number one in recent months, with the speculation surrounding the futures of both David de Gea and Dean Henderson has gathered pace.
