Liverpool are ready to pounce for AS Roma goalkeeper Alisson Becker by making a £62m bid ahead of the new Premier League season, according to Italian media outlet Il Messaggero, as quoted by the Daily Mirror.
The Reds have allegedly made a world record offer for the Brazil international after the Merseyside giants submitted a £62m offer for the 26-year-old stopper, who made 49 appearances for the Serie A giants last season and helped the Giallorossi reach the semi-finals of the Champions League.
The report adds, Liverpool will face tough competition from their Premier League rivals Chelsea to sign the goalkeeper before the start of the new season starting next month.
The report goes on to claim that Roma are looking for a transfer fee somewhere in the region of £80m, an amount that Liverpool would not be prepared to pay for the South American.
Liverpool seem to be the busiest club in the summer transfer window as the Merseyside outfit signed Fabinho from AS Monaco, Naby Keita from RB Leipzig and Xherdan Shaqiri from Stoke City last week.
