Chelsea are reportedly considering a late move for Bayer Leverkusen full-back Jeremie Frimpong.
The Dutchman has garnered interest from the London giants, contingent upon Leverkusen’s willingness to sell and the set price.
The 22-year-old defender could be at risk of departure, although the club has managed to deflect major interest in him. Chelsea are stepping into the picture, given Frimpong’s contribution to 20 goals last season. With Reece James and Malo Gusto in the position, Chelsea’s uncertain captain injuries might prompt the pursuit of additional options.
Leverkusen aren’t eager to part with a key player this late in the transfer window. Chelsea must follow Leverkusen’s possible high asking price, which exceeds the player’s market value.
Real Madrid’s interest for next summer presents an alternate future, yet Frimpong might consider an immediate move to Chelsea. Deco at Barcelona was also in contact with the player, but their pursuit of Joao Cancelo may end that.
Should Frimpong join, Pochettino gains flexibility with a back three, or he could provide an aggressive full-back option even in a back four.
