Italian giants AC Milan are reportedly preparing a move for Chelsea’s Christopher Nkunku and Ben Chilwell. According to TEAMtalk, the Rossoneri are exploring opportunities to bring the out-of-favour duo to San Siro as they aim to strengthen their squad under new manager Sergio Conceicao.
Chelsea Open to Offloading Nkunku and Chilwell
Christopher Nkunku, signed for a significant fee by Chelsea, has endured a challenging stint due to injuries and limited game time. Despite contributing to 17 goals in his appearances this season, the 27-year-old is reportedly unhappy with his peripheral role under Enzo Maresca.
Similarly, Ben Chilwell has struggled for minutes and appears to be completely out of Maresca’s plans. The left-back, who once seemed integral to Chelsea’s setup, is now deemed surplus to requirements, prompting the club’s willingness to sanction his departure.
Milan’s Ambitions and the Duo’s Potential Impact
Milan are keen on bolstering their left flank with Chilwell, especially amid ongoing speculation around Theo Hernandez’s future. Regardless of Hernandez’s status, Chilwell could offer depth and quality to the Rossoneri’s defence.
Nkunku, on the other hand, is viewed as a versatile attacking option to replace Luka Jovic, who is linked with AS Monaco. The French forward’s ability to operate across the front line could make him a valuable asset for Milan.
Challenges in Securing the Deals
Chelsea are reportedly seeking a loan deal with an option to buy for both players. Nkunku’s price tag stands at £65 million (€76.8 million), a figure that could complicate negotiations. Furthermore, Milan face competition from Bayern Munich, who are also interested in the Frenchman.
With Milan already in talks with Chelsea over Joao Felix, the Italian club’s pursuit of Nkunku and Chilwell could depend on their ability to navigate financial constraints and fend off rival suitors.
