The NFL has announced the suspension of New England Patriots running back LeGarrette Blount for the first game of the 2015 season for violating the substance abuse policy.
The 28-year-old has received a one-day suspension in relation to an incident back in August 2014 when Blount was arrested for possession of marijuana.
However, he is eligible to participate in all offseason practices and training camp before the suspension begins.

The charges against him were dropped earlier this year following his 50 hours of community service, but due to the NFL’s rules he won’t be available for the season opener for the Super Bowl champions on September 10.
Blount has played 11 games for the Steelers last season before he joined the Patriots. He rushed for 547 yards and 5 touchdowns in the 2014 season.
