Minnesota Timberwolves president Flip Saunders has confirmed that the team is keen to prepare a shortlist of candidates in search for a new coach to replace Rick Adelman.
Adelman, 67, has already announced his retirement earlier this week after coaching 23-season in the NBA, including the last three with the Wolves.
Saunders, a former coach himself between 1995 and 2005, told ESPN: “Ideally right now we’re going to do a search. The search isn’t just coming to talk to me. We’ll sit down and put together a list, see the interest those people have and we’ll make decisions based on that.”
“I do know anytime you can be in the NBA and have the opportunity to coach at this level, a lot of people would jump at that opportunity.”
According to Marc Stein from ESPN, Florida Gators head coach Billy Donovan is under Timberwolves’s radar to replace Rick Adelman. Here is the Tweet from Marc Stein.
Been discussing Izzo/Hoiberg for some time as candidates to replace Adelman, but here’s a new name I’m told interests Wolves: Billy Donovan
