After losing the toss, the Tourists restricted England to 219 all out with paceman Lasith Malinga took three wickets for 50.
England skipper Alastair Cook is the only from his side to make a 56 runs in an innings whereas Ian Bell scored 37.
Sri Lanka’s Left-handed batsman Lahiru Thirimanne made an unbeaten 60 runs and the experienced Mahela Jayawardene scored 53 runs to take victory with 10 balls to spare in the fifth ODI of the five-match series.
The vice-captain Lahiru Thirimanne is named Man of the Match for his excellent half-century 60 off 101 balls and Lasith Malinga is the Man of the series for picking up seven wickets.
Now, Sri Lanka to play two-Test series against England, starting next week on Thursday at Lord’s.
