Nutrition advice for cricketers

In today’s day and age, many cricketers consider taking dietary supplements in order to excel their performance levels. These supplements can all naturally be found in many foods but due to hectic lifestyles, heavy training sessions and an increased amount of exercise, it is not always possible to naturally gain enough of these supplements.

Protein intake is an important part of a cricketers diet as it is an important part of exercise training. This is due to the fact that it aids both performance and recovery. However, athletes must be careful when it comes to protein levels, as too much excess protein powder supplements can be more harmful than beneficial. Dietary protein intake for high league athletes such as cricketers should be taken before, during and after physical activity. This is because it is most advantageous in gaining muscle strength and muscle mass.

Health risks are apparent if too much protein is consumed and come in the form of dehydration, gout, calcium loss, liver and renal damage, gastrointestinal side effects, diarrhea, water loss and bloating.

In order to avoid any of the above ailments, bountiful protein intake must be paired with a well-balanced diet, a well-rounded meal plan and regular resistance exercise.  If all of the mentioned are followed, you will be able to build your body to the strength and health you desire.

Factors that affect the individual’s progression include the type of exercise, the intensity, the duration, the carbohydrate values of the diet, the individual’s sex and age, the amount of background training and the training environment.

Always keep your protein intake at a safe level and never over exercise as this can do more harm than good. Start small and work your way up; if you don’t do this, you may end up resulting in an injury, which will stunt your progress completely.
