It appears that Jasprit Bumrah’s comeback to competitive cricket may be further delayed, and he is unlikely to participate for Mumbai Indians in the Indian Premier League 2023.
The seamer will not be participating in the upcoming edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL).
Cricbuzz reports that Bumrah’s injury is worse than first thought, and there is a chance he may not fully recover in time for the ICC World Test Championship (WTC) final in June in London, assuming India qualifies.
According to sources within the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), the 29-year-old has been experiencing discomfort after a five-month absence from the game. There are worries that he could be out of action for an extended period.
His most recent game for India was a T20I against Australia in September 2022.
Numerous reports suggest that the National Cricket Academy (NCA) officials in Bengaluru have ruled Bumrah out of the upcoming three ODIs against Australia, which come after the ongoing four-match Test series. However, the latest update indicates that the NCA is in no hurry to rush the 29-year-old cricketer back into action.
