Arsenal have reportedly taken the lead in the race to sign Belgian winger Yannick Carrasco, according to Sky Sport Italia as cited by The Sun.
The 25-year-old currently plays for Chinese Super League outfit Dalian Yifang following his move from Atletico Madrid last February.
However, the ex-Atletico Madrid ace is understood to be keen to return to Europe and the likes of AC Milan and Manchester United have been credited with an interest.
The report suggests that Arsenal have emerged as front-runners to secure Carrasco’s signature, though, having already made initial contact, but could face stiff competition from AC Milan.
It is understood that the Gunners are in the market for a midfielder this month following a season-ending injury to Danny Welbeck, and Carrasco is believed to have given his approval to the move.
The Belgium international has scored seven goals and made nine assists in 26 games since joining Dalian Yifang, while he bagged 23 goals in 123 appearances for Atletico between 2015-2018.
